The Cessna 550 Bravo aircraft for sale is a light weight corporate jet that was developed by the Cessna company. The 550 Bravo comes from a series of 550 models that include the Citation I, Citation II, and the Citation II/SP. The U.S. military used the Citation II, which they called the T-47A, for radar system training. The U.S. Department of Defense also has used 550s, which they called the OT-47B, to fly reconnaissance missions for drug interdiction.
The production of 550s began in 1977, with the Citation I. It was not until the year 1994 that the 550 Bravo was brought into production. There was a different engine put into the model 550 Bravo which was a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW530A engine. The landing gear was replaced by a configuration that was a smoother-riding link that was added by other members of the citation line. The aircrafts avionics was upgraded to a Honeywell Primus 1000 glass cockpit. The first flight of the 550 Bravo occurred in 1995. The plane was not officially certified until 1996 though. A total of 337 Cessna 550 Bravo’s were produced and production ceased in 2006.
The maximum seating capacity of the 550 Bravo is eight passengers. The aircrafts length is 47.2 ft. (14.39 m) and the height is 15 ft. (4.57 m). The wingspan is 52.2 ins. (15.90 m) and the wing area is 342.6 ft. squared (31.83 m squared). When empty, the aircraft has a weight of 8,059 lbs. (3,655 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 15,100 lbs. (6,849 kg). The cruising speed is 403 knots (464 mph, 746 km/h) when at 35,000 ft. The stalling speed is 82 knots (94 mph, 152 km/h) and the rate of climb is 3,040 ft. /min (15.4 m/s). The aircrafts range is 1,998 nmi (2,300 mi, 3,701 km) and the service ceiling is 43,000 ft. (13,100 m).
The Cessna 550 Bravo for sale can be bought with confidence. The used Cessna 550 Bravo is the most common one found on the market being that production stopped in 2006. There are a few unused Cessna 550 Bravo aircraft sales but are hard to come by being that this is a seller. The used Cessna 550 Bravo or unused can be found on the Flying Online network of websites.
