The Beechcraft Musketeer for sale is a cute little aircraft. This plane comes from a single-engine, low-wing, light weight aircraft that came from Beechcraft. This line of planes include the model 19 Musketeer Sport, Model 23 Musketeer, Sundowner and the Custom, the models 23-24 Musketeer Super III, the unique retractable gear Model24-R Sierra, and lastly the military CT-134 Musketeer.
From 1963 through 1983, the Musketeer line was in production. A total of 4,366 were made. Hawker Beechcraft has owned the type certificate for the Musketeer family since March of 2007. During these years of production, it was common to see members of the Musketeer family being used for trainers and many flying schools. In present day, the majority of Musketeers are owned privately, and are considered a prize for their large interior, the strength and stability of their airframe, and there high cruising speed.
The Musketeer is similar to other light weight aircraft but there are certain differences. Its competitors, like the Cessna 172 which uses sprung steel main gear, the Piper PA-28 Cherokee that uses oleos, and the Grumman American AA-5s that uses the fiberglass sprung main gear, members of the Musketeer family uses trailing idler link gear system that has a compressed rubber puck suspension system. This allows the aircraft to have a different landing characteristic than its competitors. It’s common for light touchdowns to be followed by idler links skipping and creating less-graceful landings. With practice, smooth landings can occur.
The outcome of this less than perfect landing gear design, Beechcraft refrained from offering wheel fairings for its fixed gear models. There have been many after -market manufacturers that have designed, and tested, wheel fairings for the Musketeer aircraft.
The length of the aircraft is 25 ft 8 in (7.82 m). The wingspan 32 ft 9 in(9.98 m). The wing area is: 146 sq ft (13.6 m2). The planes height is 8 ft 3 in (2.51 m). When empty, the planes weight is 1,375 lb (624 kg). The gross weight is 2,400 lb (1,089 kg)
The twin-engines that are strapped to either side Continental IO-346-A four cylinder air-cooled horizontally opposed aircraft piston engine, 165 hp (123 kW). The maximum speed is 127 kn (146 mph; 235 km/h). The cruising speed is 102 kn (117 mph; 189 km/h) long range cruise speed). The stalling speed 63 kn (72 mph; 117 km/h). The aircraft range 676 nmi (778 mi; 1,252 km) with reserves. The service ceiling is 13,000 ft (4,000 m). The rate of climb is 728 ft/min (3.70 m/s)
